I work in watercolors to invite the viewer into a deeper observation of our natural world. The translucency of pigment on paper and the fluidity of water is an irresistible way to describe light and shadow on flowers, plants and the landscape. Landforms in the Rocky Mountains and in Southern Alberta, where sky meets foothills and prairies, also inspire me. I am a gardener and a hiker by upbringing and by passion. I love to take note of the plants that grow in the wild places I visit so that I can dabble in botanical art as well. Much of my work in the past year has really been influenced by winter walks in my neighborhood, an Autumn plein air trip to Jasper and the startup of the 2021 gardening season!
